Fred Athens.
Dine, Drink & Chill. Nea Smyrni.
Contemporary all-day on Konstantinou Paleologou in Nea Smyrni. The neighbourhood visitors don’t reach — which is exactly why Fred works. Shakshuka with fresh sourdough, properly pressed juices, good coffee, a warm local crowd. Weekdays to 01:00, Sunday wraps at 19:00.
Fred sits on Konstantinou Paleologou in Nea Smyrni, the dense, largely residential southern suburb that most visitors to Athens never reach. That distance from the centre is part of what Fred is: a neighbourhood all-day that serves the people who live around it rather than a crowd that has read about it and come to find it. Which is not to say it hasn’t been found — it has, by enough people that weekends require patience.
The format is contemporary and well-executed: serious brunch food, a clean modern interior with good light, warm service that the reviews single out consistently. The shakshuka is a real version — hot, generous, served with dense sourdough. Juices are pressed fresh. The chicken royale is the other main order. Coffee is handled with the same care as the food.
Nea Smyrni. The part visitors don’t reach. Worth reaching.
Fred opened with a deliberate local identity — Dine, Drink & Chill is the stated format, which is accurate: coffee in the morning, brunch at weekends, lunch on weekdays, wine and drinks into the evening. Monday hours are shorter (10:00–18:00); the rest of the week it runs until 01:00. Sunday closes at 19:00, which is the Nea Smyrni rhythm: neighbourhood, not nightlife.
