Anastasia Perahia Dèdé was born in 1995 in the United States, studied at Central Saint Martins, and completed an MA at the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL. She works between London and Athens, and her practice spans photography, moving image, installation, sound, and text — disciplines she moves between without apparent hierarchy.

Her 2019 video installation Landscapes of Ladino examined the near-disappearance of the Judaeo-Spanish community in Greece, tracing the relationship between language and landscape through a culture that arrived on Greek soil after the 1492 expulsion from Spain and has been fading for generations. The work was performed and exhibited in London as part of her Bartlett research. It is one of the more quietly urgent pieces of documentary art to come out of a Greek context in recent years.
As a photographer she works in the documentary and portrait traditions, drawn to the texture of the city and the people who move through it without being noticed. Her Athens pictures have the quality of someone who knows the city from the inside without being entirely of it — close enough to see clearly, distant enough to frame what locals stop seeing. She is one of the photographers whose eye on Athens informs how RE-ATHENS sees the city it covers.
