Koukaki
Fysika Athens.
Orange wine and vinyl on a Koukaki corner.
Fysika Athens is a natural wine bar on Dimitrakopoulou in Koukaki, with a rotating list of low-intervention bottles, vinyl on the turntable, and pizza that people come back for specifically.
Fysika Athens sits on a corner of Dimitrakopoulou in Koukaki, and it has settled into the neighbourhood in the way a good wine bar should — quietly, with a loyal following and no desire to explain itself too much. The list is natural, the staff know it, and they will steer you somewhere interesting if you let them.
Orange wine is a thread through the list, alongside skin-contact whites, light reds, and the occasional pétillant naturel. Vinyl plays through the evenings. The pizza is its own recommendation — whatever they suggest, order it.
Let them guide you. Whatever they’re pouring, whatever pizza they suggest.
Open Monday to Thursday and Sunday until midnight, Friday and Saturday until 1am. Koukaki sits between the Acropolis and Filopappou Hill, which means the clientele mixes neighbours with people who have walked over from both. Fysika handles both equally well.
