Lotte Café Bistrot.

All-day café on the museum's quiet side

A café and bistrot on Tsami Karatasou, the shaded street running alongside the Acropolis Museum. Coffee taken seriously, seasonal plates at lunch, books on the shelves.

Tsami Karatasou is a short street that runs along the east side of the Acropolis Museum grounds, shaded and quiet even in summer. Lotte sits at the corner — a modest room with tiled floors, wooden shelves stacked with books and small objects, and a daily menu of coffee, pastry, and bistrot plates.

The café operates through the morning and into the afternoon. The kitchen produces a rotating menu that changes with the season: open-faced sandwiches, egg plates at breakfast, a soup or grain bowl at lunch. The coffee programme is taken seriously — single origin, pour-over and espresso methods available.

The Acropolis Museum has a café. This one is better.

The crowd is mixed: museum visitors who prefer an alternative to the Acropolis Museum café, local academics and architects, and neighbourhood regulars who have made this a daily stop. The atmosphere is unfussy and quiet — good for working alone.
