Kolonaki
Iodio.
Contemporary seafood at Loukianou 36, Kolonaki.
Iodio opened in November 2024 on Loukianou Street in Kolonaki — a gourmet seafood restaurant by owners Haris Spyrou (Alemagou, Zurbaran), Yannis Salpeas, and Spyros Vagenas. Culinary team: Georgianna Hiliadaki (two Michelin stars, Funky Gourmet), head chef Danae Voridou, and R&D director Erasmia Balaska. Fresh fish arrives daily from Chalkida and trawlers in Kalymnos and Leros. Wine list by Phaedon Vernikos.
Loukianou climbs from central Kolonaki toward Dexameni Square, lined with apartment buildings and the quiet residential calm that survives a few minutes from Syntagma. Iodio arrived here in November 2024 — a bright, marble-and-mosaic room with a patio wrapped in plants, owned by Haris Spyrou (Alemagou, Zurbaran), Yannis Salpeas, and Spyros Vagenas.
The culinary directors are Georgianna Hiliadaki — Greece’s only female chef to hold two Michelin stars, earned at Funky Gourmet — alongside head chef Danae Voridou and R&D director Erasmia Balaska. Fresh fish arrives daily from Chalkida and from trawlers out of Kalymnos and Leros. The menu runs from oysters and valley prawns with olive oil and lemon, through raw tuna with jalapeños and vinegar dressing, to grilled octopus with chimichurri and spaghetti vongole in a buttery white sauce. Taramas is served airy with bonito flakes; a second version pairs it with Mesolonghi egg, tarragon, and chives on handmade potato chips — a precise rework of the English fish & chips. Wine — Greek Assyrtiko, French Chardonnay, and top European labels — is curated by Phaedon Vernikos.
