Pangrati
Moden.
Nordic minimalism meets Athenian pastry craft in Pangrati — a workshop as much as a café.
Small café and pastry workshop in Pangrati opened in 2025 by chef Pavlos Tsiolekas. Forty square metres of Nordic minimalism in a residential building, with large windows on two sides, custom timber-and-metal furnishings, and a mezzanine above. Menu is short: freshly made pastries and serious coffee.
Moden occupies forty square metres on the ground floor of a residential building on Pratinou Street in Pangrati. The space was designed by Athens-and-London-based architect Georgios Apostolopoulos, who stripped everything back — white walls, custom timber-and-metal furnishings built specifically for the room, and large windows on two sides that pull the neighbourhood inside. Bar seating pairs with metal stools, a low bench lines the perimeter, and a slender steel staircase climbs to a small mezzanine above.
Behind the counter is Pavlos Tsiolekas, a young pastry chef who built Moden around a single focus. The menu is seasonal and deliberate: freshly made pastries — the kind you order twice — alongside coffee done properly. Moden operates as a workshop as much as a café, with production visible and the menu reflecting exactly what is being made that day.
A corner in Pangrati that decided to be exactly one thing, and did it properly.
Pangrati has been quietly assembling a constellation of destination cafés, and Moden arrived in early 2025 as one of its more considered additions. No noise, no distraction — just a room that knows exactly what it is.
