Monastiraki
Feyrouz Athens.
Lahmacun and lentil soup, run by the woman whose name is on the door.
Feyrouz has been open since 2014 near Monastiraki, serving Lebanese and broader Levantine cooking in a small room on the corner of Karori and Agathonos. Named for its matriarch and run with the same consistency it opened with.
Feyrouz has been on the corner of Karori and Agathonos, near Monastiraki, since 2014. It is named for its founder — Feyrouz, the woman who runs the kitchen — and it has the feel of a place built around a specific person’s cooking rather than a concept. The menu is Lebanese and broader Levantine: lahmacun, lentil soup, fattoush, hummus, dishes that have been on the menu since day one because they are made correctly.
Monastiraki is dense and tourist-heavy, and Feyrouz sits just far enough off the main drag to draw a crowd that found it by choice rather than convenience. The room is small and the prices are low, which is part of why it has survived twelve years in a neighbourhood where a lot has changed around it.
Named for its matriarch and mastermind in the kitchen.
Open Monday to Thursday noon to 22:00, Friday and Saturday noon to 23:00. Price tier one. It is one of the more honest lunches in central Athens.
