A curated art, design and photography bookshop on Voreou Street, Monastiraki. Opened 2021 by graphic designer Stathis Mitropoulos and former New York Times Style Magazine editor Andreas Kokkinos. Monocle noticed. The right people always find it.

Voreou Street, Monastiraki. A two-minute walk from the tourist strip. A different universe.

Hyper Hypo stocks art, design, photography, architecture, fashion and graphic design — locally and internationally published, chosen by instinct rather than sales data. "We bring in books we believe in," say founders Stathis Mitropoulos and Andreas Kokkinos, "and often we’re surprised by what people gravitate toward."

A graphic designer and a former New York Times editor opened a bookshop in Monastiraki. The right people find it.

Kokkinos spent years editing at T: The New York Times Style Magazine in New York before moving back. Mitropoulos ran a graphic design and art direction practice in Athens. They opened this in 2021, when the city was starting to look like a real destination rather than a stopover. They were early.

Monocle featured it. The crowd that followed looks nothing like the square outside.
